A 11-meter-tall statue of Fudō Myōō standing beside the main hall of Nanzo-in Temple. Before the Great Reclining Buddha was built, it was the temple's iconic symbol. The Great Fudō Myōō Immovable Buddha statue at Nanzoin Temple stands 11 meters tall, positioned on the left side of the temple path near the main hall and administrative office. As visitors climb the approach path toward the main building, this impressive 11-meter deity appears on the left, with a small waterfall called 'Fudo Falls' cascading behind it.
According to the assistant priest, before the world's largest Shakyamuni Nirvana statue was completed in 1995, this Acala figure served as the temple's main attraction and spiritual centerpiece. Historically, this powerful manifestation of Fudo Myoo held the most significant place in the temple's identity until the now-famous nirvana statue was established.
Beyond the stairs adjacent to the statue lies a small shrine with a uniquely humid and atmospheric quality even on clear days, creating an otherworldly spiritual ambiance worth experiencing if time permits.
